A Love Letter to Pre-Pandemic Me

Kayla M. Bryant

Hi love,

You won't believe what's in store, not only for you but for the world. Everything will change. While I could tell you what to prepare for, that would take the beauty away from the lessons you'll learn by facing obstacles.

What I can tell you, though, is that although it'll feel like all you've experienced is losses, you'll also gain. It will feel like someone stole the ground from under your feet, but remember the fact that you know how to fly. Search for the ways you have progressed and celebrate yourself for what you used to think was small.

Be okay with being still (you will have plenty of time for that). You will have the chance to be more intentional and build stronger connections with those you love. Use that. Be gentle––you deserve this energy from yourself just as much as those to whom you give it. There is nothing but space and time to mold yourself into who you are meant to be, but you are also meant to be who you are in this moment. Every part of your journey is valid and necessary, not just a means to an end––soak it in.

Every feeling of "missing out" is understandable, but recognize the fact that you have been gifted with the opportunity to be still. Focus on you and your journey without getting caught up in other people's ways of navigating this dormant period. After all, when the inactivity of winter melts away, it nourishes the blossoms of spring.

Feel free to take this time to work internally so that when it is time for your seeds to sprout, they will do so with confidence. You're already doing so well.

Love,

You
